Contributed by Casey Smith Brief: This is a skill level 1 rocket Estes says is a great first rocket. It has a quick release motor mount, a plastic fin unit and a parachute. The parts of the rocket all come colored red, so no painting is involved if you don't want to.
Construction: The rocket comes with the motor mount, the main body tube, the 2 piece plastic nose cone, shock cord and parachute.
The directions are classic Estes fare, and are well illustrated for those whom this may be their first rocket. I used 5 minute epoxy, just because I was going to fly this kit a lot. It goes almost 1200 feet.
Finishing: Everything is very simple to put together.
Construction Rating: 4 out of 5
Flight: I have flown this kit almost 20 times, and usually use C6-7's. It actually goes fairly well on A8-3's also. I did find an old B14-7 and I thought I would never find it. It screamed!
Recovery: Excellent recovery, I use a streamer instead of the chute for close recovery.
Flight Rating: 4 out of 5
Summary: Pro - excellent first rocket, very solid construction and amazingly fun to fly. Con - should come with a streamer
