By Patrick Bissonnette I came up with this after playing around with some ideas on how to make scale lines on missiles. Paint can be tough to mask and Monocoat isn't exactly dirt cheap. So I tried Scotch vinyl electric tape.
This comes in many different colors and is normally 3/4in wide. The colors used were brown and blue for our PML Amraam 4. I had no problems getting it on.
It's very easy to apply, inexpensive, and looks great. It's even paintable. I've used this tape for decals on a couple rockets with no problems at all. Related Tips: |

Even though it sticks well I wasn't sure how it would hold up in flight
without a clear coat. We decided to give it a go and flew the Amraam on an I211. After the flight inspection there was
no peeling or anything.
