Flight Log - 2015-10-03 - Matthew Bond's Estes Mega Der Pink Max

Estes upscaled Red Max Pro Series II kit.  Added an eyebolt to the top centering ring and replaced the shock cord with 20 feet of braided Kevlar.  Added some balsa "dams" to the motor mount which allowed me to pot the TTW fin tabs in epoxy where they attached to the motor mount.  Currently using a kevlar heat shield and a 30 inch Spherachute for recovery.  Rocket was initially flown "nekkid", but final colors will be pink with a purple nosecone and "Der Pink Max" decals from Stickershock.

Biggest motor I've flown to date in the Mega Pink Max.  Awesome boost, straight and fast off the pad on a big red flame, the "colored motors are definitely more visually impressive the larger they are.  Could see the rocket moving in the wind at altitude after motor burnout, Arcing over near the top of the climb, just disappearing into the bottom of the cloud deck.  Heard the ejection charge and quickly picked up the rocket under chute.  Long time coming down, rocket stayed on the field but it was a long walk to recover.  No damage.  I had a Jolly Logic Altimeter Two on-board, but forgot to power it up at the pad so I guess I'll need to fly this motor again.
