Brief:
A three sided pointy shape with jagged edges like the B2 Stealth Bomber. See the pictures. This rocket has nothing in common with a three fins and a nosecone rocket except a motor tube which is 54mm.

Construction:
The Stealth 54 is constructed from foamboard. It uses quarter round molding to join the three sides. Fiberglass cloth is supplied to reinforce the rocket.

Construction is straightforward with the instructions supplied.

Finishing:
A coat of black is all that is necessary. I used Krylon H2O paint.

Construction Rating: 5 out of 5

Flight:
The Stealth 54 will give you the lowest altitude for a given motor. That is okay because you will see the entire flight up close and personal. The Aerotech K550 in particular gives you the flame, smoke, and noise that you want. Note that the plume lights up the smoke that is pulled into the vacuum behind the stealth for a nice effect. I also like the spin during the boost. I have flown the Stealth three times on the Aerotech K550 motor and will likely stick with it.

Recovery:
The Stealth tumbles to the ground always close to the pad. The high drag and light weight make this possible.

Flight Rating: 5 out of 5

Summary:
This is the rocket if you want something different, easy, and attention getting.

Thanks to Art Applewhite for letting me build the beta version. This is truely the simplest and most foolproof 54mm rocket you will find. Just stick to the recommended motors.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

GUEST's OPINION:
01/10 - "I built this as a fun rocket. 90% Harpoon is cool, but a lot of work to fly. I fly all altimeter, dual deploy rockets, so there is all quite a bit of "work" at launches. This thing is a blast, load motor, press button, a lot of smoke and fire, a lot of "cool" and "wow" comments, short walk to recover, clean motor, reload, and repeat. Art has a cool looking "rocket" here, that flies great, comes with everything needed, and answers any questions you might have. This is a winner! Easy build. Did I mention FUN?" (T.H.)

11-03-2007 Donald Besaw AMW RMS J357-P None - Tumble 5-10 mph winds - Awesome first flight and my first flight with a 54mm motor. Huge white flame, thick smoke plume and thunderous roar from the AMW J357WW. Spectacular. Tumbled down surprisingly slowly, landed and was recovered with no damage.
01-05-2008 Donald Besaw J170 Sugar None - Tumble 0-5 mph winds - Awesome flight on this 54mm long burn sugar motor made by one of my fellow club members. Excellent 4 second burn and lots of smoke and noise. Thanks Marc. My first flight of 2008, yeah!!!
04-05-2008 Donald Besaw AT RMS K695-P None - Tumble 10+ mph winds - Extremely awesome flight, my first K motor. Huge red flame, thick smoke cloud and a very loud roar. Reached maybe 700-800 feet and tumbled down and landed close by. No signs of stress and no damage sustained on landing.
08-02-2008 Donald Besaw J180 KN/Epoxy None - Tumble 0-5 mph winds - Awesome flight on this 54mm long burn KN/Epoxy propellant motor. Flew in a drag race with another 54mm oddroc on a similar motor. Landed close by with no damage.
09-05-2009 Donald Besaw Research - K460 Red Flame None - Tumble 0-5 mph winds - Awesome flight on this research 54mm 4 grain red motor. Tumbled down and landed safely almost right next to the pads. No damage.
11-07-2009 Donald Besaw Research - K555 Blue Flame None - Tumble 10+ mph winds - Great flight on this 54mm 4 grain blue motor. Performed a series of tight corkscrews towards the end of the burn - possibly due to the strong winds. Tumbled down and landed with no damage.
01-16-2010 Tom Hier Loki RLD J175-0 None - Tumble 5-10 mph winds Event: ESL140
- First flight, on a Loki J175 which is a white moon burner, with a 6.5 sec burn. VERY nice motor for this kind of rocket.
