K-9 TVC Gimbal Certification Test
Hi Everyone! I finally did it! This was the first ever static fire test of the fully Open Source, 3d printed, K-9 TVC Gimbal! For the first ever test of this TVC system, it's a complete success! The Gimbal handled the stress of the motor firing without any problems. As you can see, the TVC did not change in speed whether it was under thrust or not. To be honest, I was shocked how well it worked! This Test used a Estes E12-4 motor with the ejection charge removed. You can see flex within the gimbal. This is due too the TVC software making it vector double the degrees than it was rated for. This is to put the system under even greater stress to see how it'll handle it. Also the gimbal used was V6, while the current iteration is V7. V7 has many improvements that have virtually elimated flex. The reason for this was to verify that V6 is still usuable due to the amount of downlaods of V6. If V6 performed this well, no doubt V7 will be even better! This test not only tested the TVC gimbal, it also put the Ignitors built by CRT and the wireless ground support controller to the test, both to which it performed perfectly! Although this test was a sucess, I have made notes on improvements! Thid was our very first test afterall. First off, the water deluge system needs to be out of the way of the thrust. It can be noted a seen that the water spray did effect the vector of the thrust. It also created a barrier in a way causing some of the exhausts to not properly vent out. Also due to the angle of the spray, there was a lot of splashing. The ironic thing was, there was absolutely no damage from fire, but rather more water damage! Second, a load cell and Data logging would be a great feature, these are in the works! Special Thanks to Jake Blocker for giving me tips and pointers to get me started in testing these systems!
