Mayor Tommy Battle hosted an important panel discussion on NASA's Space Launch System - Key to Space Exploration, Friday, Aug. 26, at the Saturn V Auditorium in the Davidson Center, U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Panelists addressed NASA's missions, direction and leadership, Congressional actions and attitudes, technical aspects of lift capability, past and future projects, the recent Independent Cost Assessment, what next, impact on Huntsville, how to move forward, and why this is important to the country. Participants include: Mike Griffin, King-McDonald Eminent Scholar & Professor, UAHuntsville, former NASA Administrator; Shar Hendrick, The Hendrick Group; Bud Cramer, former Representative U.S. House of Representatives, Alabama's 5th Congressional District; Steve Cook, Director of Space Technologies at Dynetics; and Jim Chilton, Vice President, Exploration Launch Systems at The Boeing Company.
