Art Applewhite 18mm Scimitar

Brief:
This is a neat little aerobrake design that flies great with a lot of spinning!

Construction:
The kit consists of two sheets of cardstock, a motor hook, and the instructions.

The instructions are easy to follow and have great illustrations that spell everything out easily. I found that it only took 25 minutes to cut out all the parts and assemble it! The parts fit great and there were no issues in the build. After the glue dries you have a very sturdy little craft.

Art Applewhite 18mm Scimitar When rolling the motor tube be very careful not to use too much glue and glue the motor into the mount.

One thing I did that was not in the instructions is hold the fin pieces together with a bunch of paperclips to dry. Dry time for mine was about 20 minutes before the first flight. I was flying it in under an hour!

Finishing:
The kit comes in many colors and needs no finishing when you are done. One could spray a clear coat on it to protect it from moisture if desired. Also due to the fact that it is paper, one could draw or decorate it any way they wanted.

Flight:
I used all B6-0 motors and had great flights. It is as easy to prepare as putting the motor in the motor tube.

It flys nice and straight and spins rapidly during ascent. It is fun to watch.

Recovery:
The recovery is aerobrake so all you do is watch it fall and then pick it up. It will probably win the prize for landing closest to the pad.

Flight Rating: 5 out of 5

Summary:
This rocket is great fun! I only wish I had bought a few more of them.

A very simple rocket that is capable of EXTREME spinning! This review is for the super scimitar. My Scimi (yes i call scimi, prnounced like semi) is florecent red but looks more like some shade of orange. Still happy. It comes printed on two sheets of cardstock and can be built in less than an hour. I ordered it along with a Green Stealth. You choose your color. The intructions are very ...
