Saturn 1B Assembly Part 49 - Adding Nose Weight
http://www.ApogeeRockets.com - In order for the Apogee Components 1/70th scale model of the Saturn 1B rocket to fly straight, we need to add clay as weight to the nose cone. This is to move the CG to the proper location. The amount of clay you need depends on two things: the engine you plan on using to launch the rocket, and whether or not you added canted fins to the rocket. The chart (download from the ApogeeRockets website) is based on using a F “EconoJet” motor from Aerotech. If you use a larger motor, you’ll have to add additional weight to move the CG to the proper location.
