Estes model rocket launch at Bob Evans farm on July 7, 2013
My son James and I got an Estes Pro Series G80-7T powered model rocket from my brother Levi as a Christmas gift in 2012. We had it built and painted by mid-January 2013. By mid-February we had our 2 G engines purchased. But after that we had trouble finding a launch area that was big enough for rocket recovery and close to our family spread out throughout Ohio. We finally went to Bob Evans farms in Rio Grande, OH, and launched the rocket from the R/C airstrip on the farm property. We finally got a break from ALL the rain and storms from the week and day before and enjoyed 2 great launches!! Very fun and very cool! Due to rain, I had my rubber boots on (sorry!). Rachel had not tried to take video on her Nikon before our launch, so auto focus and start/stops are a bit tough, still fun! The rocket and launch pad was purchased from Hobby Lobby (watch for their 40% off coupons!). We got the engines and igniters from DiscountRocketry.com. Engines can run nearly $30 each at Hobby Lobby, but we got them for over 1/2 off at site above! I'm ready for more!!
