Contributed by Adam Sepe Brief: Two small, single-stage, semi-scale model rockets, with parachute recovery. E2X style (almost RTF).
Construction: This is a starter set which comes with: (2) A10-3t motors, a Porta-Pad II, an Electron Beam launch controller, igniters, recovery wadding, (2) body tubes, (2) nose cones, (2) pairs of really cool fins (3 each), (2) mini engine mounts, clay, pre-assembled chutes and more!
The instructions are very easy to follow, great illustrations and very logical assembly order.
This rocket is an E2X so it should only take a slightly experienced rocketeer about 1.5 hours. There were no problems with alignment and it featured thru-the-wall fins. When finished the rockets seem indestructible. All you need is some plastic cement and yellow or white glue (I used Testors and Elmers). No painting necessary you'll have extra decals (I put mine on my launch pads). Maybe you'll need a hobby knife. I got my supplies from Walmart along with the rocket.
Finishing: PRO's- NO WATER SLIDE DECALS!!! looks great, no finishing required.
CON's- I thought the rocket would use at least a B4 but it doesn't.
Construction Rating: 5 out of 5
Flight: Recommended motors A3-4t and A10-3t. I used an A10-3t. It flew very well no damage. Motor retained by hook. Flew W/ neutral stability.
TIP: when buying this don't fall for the same thing I did. It says on the box: "scale tactical range over 1 mile", that's only 250'.
Recovery: The shock cord was glued in by those stupid paper mounts. It went at a nice slow recovery small burns on shock cord. no big deal. But again that whole tiny engine mount thing, that'll shake my rating down.
Flight Rating: 3 out of 5
Summary: Main pro's- real cool look, no painting, built both in 2 hrs, super easy decal application.
Main con's- low altitude, small engine mount.
