This Estes V2 is one of my favorite kits, painted to perfection by jeffyjeep. Launched it with my assistant and friend Derek Griffith on a beautiful fall day here in Los Angeles on a D12-5.
I don't like the 2 part Estes launch rods. Instead, I use 1/8" and 3/16" stainless steel rods, 40 and 48 inches respectively, cleaned with fine steel wool and rubbed with silicone spray on launch day.
The 3/16" mount broke as we were setting up, so I jammed the rod into the ground, creating the most simple, stable launch platform ever. Unfortunately we couldn't get the cool up-angle you can see in our other videos.
We covered the lift-off with a pair of GoPro Blacks set at 120fps. Derek rigged them so he could activate both using a single GoPro remote.
Youtube is warning me that this video may have audio sync problems. I guess I'll know soon enough.
We'll be posting more launches throughout the week... hopefully without aforementioned sync issues. Thanks for watching.
