Twelve PSAs were produced on such topics as: labor law, honor killings, Palestinian land rights, community betterment, political unity between parties, gender relations, volunteerism and youth empowerment. The aim of the workshop was to foster greater civic participation, activism, and debate in the region of the Middle East by teaching civil society organizations how to create messages that can improve their societies from within. The workshop was supported by the United States Government Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and Creative Associates International. This 30-second PSA created by Women's Affairs Technical Committee (WATC), starts with a woman seated at a desk, her back to the viewer, while writing letters with an air of urgency. A shadow of a mans hand clenching a knife appears on the wall. Voices echo in the background, We must kill her! We must restore our honor. The shadow of the hand appears again and the screen goes to black. When it fades up again, the woman is collapsed over a bloody page. Her letter reads, Dear Mr. President The message appears, Palestinian Penal Code STILL Permits HONOR CRIMES against women. The words, NO MORE EXCUSES, turn from white to red. The message is intended to urge the President to take action, to eradicate articles of law that exonerate people from honor crimes.
