Skylab: Astronaut Acrobats In Space
Skylab: Astronaut Acrobats In Space. This is a short video featuring some very nimble moves by astronauts on-board America's often forgotten first space station: Skylab. Skylab orbited the Earth from 1973 to 1979. It wasn't all fun and games. Three crews flew up to Skylab and did LOTS of work. On rare occasions, they had some free time. Acrobatics were one of the ways they spent that rare spare moment. Skylab has been the exceedingly rare spacecraft which has had lots of room inside. This allowed them to do some of the amazing maneuvers you see here. I was lucky enough to help run the computers in Mission Control at NASA in Houston for the entire Skylab mission. Enjoy. Skylab Crews: Skylab 2: Joseph Kerwin, Charles Conrad and Paul Weitz Skylab 3: Owen Garriott, Jack Lousma and Alan Bean Skylab 4: Gerald Carr, Edward Gibson, and William Pogue. I have a 4 minute interview I did with Jack Lousma here: - https://youtu.be/wCl6z67AJw4 The Music is "Entry of the Gladiators" by Julius Fučík (1872–1916). It is in the public domain and performed by the United States Marine Corps Band.
