Flight Log - 2011-09-13 - Paul Nortness's AIM-54C Phoenix

TLP 2.6" Phoenix. Replaced the very soft balsa stock with 3/32" basswood. Laminated fins with self adhesive label paper. Added foil tape on inside of body tube to avoid scorching....that engine mount is WAY up in there!

Replaced the paper hat nose cone with Semroc's Balsa BNC-80VE

After replacing the nosecone with solid balsa, I tried again. Much better results as the new nose cone shaved a lot of weight off. Still a little susceptible to weather cocking, but it flew much better. Had to check the altimeter twice cause I couldn't beleive what a dramatic improvement it made. And the engine stayed in this time!
