Flight Log - 2011-09-13 - Paul Nortness's SLUF (Short Little Ugly Fella)

SLUF is a stock Estes Big Daddy. I laminated the balsa fins and added strips of balsa on the centering rings for extra strength. I thought the name SLUF (Short little ugly Fella) was more fitting for a rocket of this stature.

Flight Date: 2011-09-13
Rocket Name: SLUF (Short Little Ugly Fella)
Kit Name: Estes - Big Daddy {Kit} (2162) [1998-]
Flyer's Name: Paul Nortness
Motors: D12-5
Expected Altitude: 350.00 Feet
Wind Speed: 5.00 mph
Launch Site: 60 Acres, Redmond WA
Actual Altitude: 375.00 Feet

Good flight, SLUF comes off the pad nice and slow and loud. Had a scary moment just after apogee when SLUF started coming down nose first without chute deployed. After some unpleasantries muttered under my breath, the chute popped and SLUF floated safely to the grass. Defintely will only launch on D12-3 if using D's again!
