A kitbash modification of an Estes Baby Bertha kit. It looks like a sci-fi version of a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air.
The usual standard of Estes parts found in the Baby Bertha kit.
Pretty easy build. You end up cutting 2 of the stock fins to make the primary wings on the model. The "exhaust stacks" need 8 launch lugs to fabricate them. The hardest part is carving the "hand" that sticks up over the top fin/windshield. To get it to look right you almost have to trace the decal on to the fin stock.
2 different colors of paint to make the model look right. I hate masking, I always seem to get bleed under.
Straight up and slow. Spirals around itself.
No issues here. Standard Estes 123 inch parachute deploys like it should.
Too bad the plans are OOP. I would love to upscale this little beast.
The '57 Goony is unlike any of Excelsior Rocketry's other "Goony Retro-Bash" line of decal/plan sets in that it is not based on any of the Estes kits as the other offerings are. Instead this one gets its insperation from an automobile. Their ad says " The 57 GOONY is the rocket that says.. "Tailfins? I'll show you tailfins!". Components Components required for this build ...

Lester, once I get settled into my new home I will see if I can find the plans I have for this rocket. Wife thinks I'm a pack rat because I try and keep all my old instructions but I keep telling her you never know when they might come in handy. Anyway will look for them and if I find them will send you a copy. If not I may be able to draft up a set.
