Rocket Pic

Construction:

  • Body Tube: One Estes BT-5 4.5 inches long.
  • NoseCone: PNC-5.
  • Fins: 3, 1/16 Basswood.
  • One Motor Block: Cardboard.
  • Shock Cord: 10 inch of 70lb. Kevlar®
  • Steamer: Red Mylar 1.5 X 15 inch.

This took about an hour to build. The painting took a little longer, 2 colors bright yellow over white. All supplies were purchased from local hobby store, Hobbytown USA. Redmond, WA.

Flight:
Recommended motor: A3-4T. That is the motor I used. Preparation: Estes wadding paper, the rocket is small, if you have big hands you might need a buddy to hold the rocket for you. Flight: The Mini Aimers flew straight, fast and into the overcast of the mid-afternoon. Shock cord technique: Quest style, tied off at the motor mount. Recovery: Delay is a little too fast, The only reason I say that is I was missing about 3 inches of steamer.

Summary:
PROs: It is easy to build, inexpensive to fly, and it goes really high. CONs: None.
