Aero Pack Quick Change AdapterBrief:
RMS motor mount adapters.

Construction:
The Quick-Change Motor Adapter is another great product line from the folks who brought you the Quick-Change Motor Retainer. The adapter allows you to use a smaller-in-diameter motor casing inside a larger-in-diameter motor mount tube in conjunction with Aero Pack's Quick-Change Motor Retainer system. So you can use a 29mm motor in a 38mm motor mount tube or a 38mm motor in a 54mm motor mount tube, depending on the size of your Quick-Change Motor Retainer.

After placing an order for the adapter on www.aeropack.net, you'll receive the product in a priority mail box. In my experience with Aero Pack, shipment is fast and its service is wonderful. When you open the box, you'll find the adapter in a zip-lock plastic bag. It's already assembled for you and ready to use. It comes in two pieces machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. The large tube, of course, holds your motor casing, while the small ring is placed inside your Aero Pack Motor Retainer Cap to insure that the motor is properly aligned. Simply slide the adapter with your motor inside the rocket's motor mount tube, place the ring inside your motor retainer cap and screw the retainer cap onto the retainer. You'll find that the motor is retained securely without any friction fitting and the motor will not slide either forward or backward. On those occasions where you'll use single use motors, you will need to form a engine block ring over the aft end of the motor with some masking tape to keep the motor from sliding forward.

Aero Pack Quick Change Adapter

Construction is exemplary and the product works like a charm. I've used the adapters with both Aero Pack retainers and Giant Leap Slimline retainers and they work fine. They come in two sizes, the A2938 and the A3854. The adapters that are used for adapting a 54mm motor to a 75mm tube or a 75mm motor to a 98mm tube are different in form and will be covered in a separate review to reflect that difference.

Finishing:
The units are flat black aluminum and hold up well to use in the field.

Summary:
This is a great product that makes life so simple you almost forget it's there...until it's gone. Then you make certain that never happens again and order a replacement as fast as you can! I highly recommend these motor adapters to anyone who uses Aero Pack or Slimline retainers.

I absolutely agree--the Aero Pack motor adapters are one of the slickest rocketry items I've ever used. In fact I'm equally impressed with the Aero Pack motor retainers. My only complaint is that I wish that they cost less.
