Brief

Basically a sci-fi space age version of the USAF Air Force 1 presidential transport

Components

Good components in the kit. The main body tube looks like it's sized at Estes BT-55, but is actually a little bigger. .

Construction

This kit went together fairly easily. I got a little impatient when it came time to bevel the angle at the root of the main wings so they would sit flush against the spine, so I used my Dremel tool and router table attachment to do it faster.  My only major complaint on this build is that there is no definative marking guide for the 2 vertical fins at the tail area. I eyeballed them on as best I could, but gluing fins on sideways is a new one for me.

Finishing

The kit instructions have you paint the nose cone separately, and paint the rest of the rocket gloss white. Then it is time to apply the "pressure sensitive decals". This means transparent stickers, and I am not a big fan of stickers on rockets. You can't gloss coat over them, because they still leave an edge.  I also have an issue with the color selection for the nose cone. I took the instructions for the kit with me to my favorite hobby store, (yay HobbyTown) and purchased the exact brand and color number of blue for the nose paint. It looks 2 shades lighter than the stickers on the body. I don't know if Testors changed the formula, if I didn't shake the can enough to mix everything up correctly, or if I just shot this nose in too high of humidity.

Construction Score:

Flight

She flies straight and true. The only recomended motor is a C6-3, and that is what she flew under.

Recovery

The antenna probes on the tails kinda caught the parachute shock cord, and she landed on her belly, just like the 2 AS-1 escort fighters I flew her with.

Flight Rating: 4

Summary

I had a good time building and flying this rocket.
