Attaching the fins using a home-brew fin jig

The DEFCON 1 getting it's paper-covered fins attached. With the paper covering, I don't have to coat the balsa with sanding sealer, sand, recoat, sand, recoat...

This new home-brew jig is now being used to attach the fins precisely. Before that I used the TLAR method of fin alignment. (TLAR = that looks about right). With the jig, I can precisely align the fin and then pull the body tube down a bit to squirt in a line of glue. After that I just release the body tube and it presses against the fin edge exactly in alignment. Wait for the glue to dry and it's all ready for filleting. So good and mess free.
