  • "The Defender is one of DG&A's larger kits..."
  • "It has three large trapezoidal fins with an unusual feature - a three-inch whole in the center of each."
  • "It also incorporates the unique finned nozzle..."
  • "... overall, I would say that DG&A had defeated the package-crushing machines at the U.S. Postal Service."
  • "... there are dozens of cut wood pieces in this kit, many of them tiny ... All of them are precision-cut and go together perfectly."
  • "Speaking of motor retention, there isn't any. The finned nozzle is a sweet visual feature but makes most traditional motor retention methods impossible."
  • "There were a number of places where the instructions were practically unintelligible..."
  • "... computer-cut vinyl decals - and they are really nice - making the final rocket extremely impressive."
  • "Easily converted into a dual-deployment configuration."
  • "...K550 rating optimistic for a rocket built light enough to return under the chute provided in the kit."

Based on this review it seems that the DG&A Defender kit comes with top quality parts in good packaging but is not for the beginner. While the assembly was not difficult the poor instructions mean that this kit should only be built by rocketeers with prior experience with high power rockets. The reviewer goes into a lot of detail about his assembly and first flight.
