Rogue flies again! (2012-04-03)

Flight of QModeling Rogue on an Estes E9-4. Even though I had repaired the broken fin from my previous flight, the repaired bird flew as true as it did before my clumsiness wrecked the fin. I notice at the end a curious, and potentially hazaradous condition - the motor tried to work itself out from around the motor hook. It got bound from friction halfway out - perhaps this explains the lackadasical deployment of the parachute?

Rogue launch and crush (2012-04-03)

After a letter-perfect launch of my QModeling Rogue, a Mega-Retro Series "scaled up" model of a classic model rocket of the 1970s, I run the bird down and break its fin like a clumsy child.

The AGM 88 HARM Eats It (2012-04-04)

Second, and day-ending flight of my The Launch Pad AGM-88 HARM on an Estes E9-4 engine. Note that this bird flew earlier on an Estes D12-3 quite nicely - straight boost, and only arced over well after the propellant had burned out. Ejection was excellent. It is puzzling about the E-motor failure with one possible, crucial difference being the length and weight difference between D and E motors. This may have moved the CP in back of the CG, resulting in instability.
