Nose Cone Damage to Soft Styrofoam

As I expected, the sharp corners of the hard plastic nosecones are no match for the soft sides of the upper stage foam exteriors.  The sharp triangular ding in this photo obviously came from the nearby corner of the nosecone.  With continued flying, these dings are sure to become more numerous.  A much longer shock cord could help here, although it is difficult to fit it into the small-diameter BT-5 body tubes.  Even then, without a parachute or streamer to keep the nosecone away from the body during descent, occasional dings will still occur. I think I will try using a small streamer with the existing (short) shock cord.
