Saturn V: 1/132 Scale, 4 Stages and 12 Black Powder MotorsA Scratch Build - Scratch Design 1/132 Scale Saturn V Flying Model Rocket.
This rocket has (4) Stages:
Stage 1: (5) 24mm BP Motors - e match ignited cluster - recovery via spool ejected parachute
Stage 2: (5) 18mm BP Motors - ignited via fuse - recovery via spool ejected parachute
Stage 3: (1) 18mm BP Motor - CHAD staging - recovery via z-folded bird scare tape Mylar streamer
Stage 4: (1) 13mm BP Motor - CHAD staging - recovery via z-folded bird scare tape Mylar streamer
1st stage fins are canted 15 degrees. This makes the rocket spin about it's longitudinal axis and gives roll stability to stage 2-3 & 4. There are no clear Lexan fins or pop-out fins
This rocket was designed to be mid-power. The thrust total thrust is calculated to fall below the N.A.R. HPR limit.
Old school construction methods are used, no 3d printed parts are used.
Rocket utilizes wood lathe turned nose cone and reducers.

Centering Rings (2023-04-19 12:16:41) I'm a fan of using structurally papered basswood (SPB) for making centering rings.
I call this SPB because when I make it I use Gorilla Wood Glue and use pressure to press the paper tightly to the wood during the drying process.
For these rings I printed full scale templates of the rings I needed to make, and then glued those templates onto the papered basswood.
I used Forstener bits to drill the holes, and a scroll saw to cut the outside diameter of the rings.
