Estes Crossfire XSI Failure (2011-07-02)

This is a fantastic example of why you should always double-check your gear before launching a rocket. I had placed the safety cap and streamer on the guide rod prior to launch in an effort to check the wind direction and correct as needed. I forgot to take the cap and streamer back off before launch, and despite the fact that the cap is simply pressed onto the launch rod, it offered enough resistance to rip the guide-lug off, shred the rocket casement, and send the rocket off in a very UNSAFE fashion.

Launching an Estes Amazon Rocket (2011-05-31)

This video is my first launch of a model rocket ever. I fired off an Estes Amazon single-stage rocket with a C6-5 motor. It reached an altitude of approximately 400' even though it has a max potential altitude of 600' due to the flatter launch trajectory I used to compensate for the wind.
