Amateur rocket launches

This is a highlight of some video we shot at Bear Creek Lake Park in Morrison, Colorado back around 2000. We learned that it's difficult to track the rocket launches with the camera - especially when zoomed in - because they accelerate so quickly. We also learned that you need to capture much more footage before and after whatever you're filming so that there is something to work with when you edit later. Some of these rockets were the familiar Estes rockets, while some were a bit larger...and louder. Unfortunately this video does not do them justice, though you can kind of get a feel from the sound of those higher-powered rocket motors. This event was sponsored by a local amateur rocket club - Colorado Rocketry Association of Space Hobbyists - a.k.a., CRASH (www.crashonline.org), if I remember correctly.
