First dual deploy flight - Raw video
I took a LOC Onyx rocket and added a 3inch electronics bay and payload section to it. Fitted with an ADEPT 22 dual deploy altimeter the rocket was sent up for its first flight at the MDRA launch on December 18, 2011 in Price, Maryland. Rocket: LOC Onyx stretched with electronics bay Altimeter: ADEPT 22 Motor: CTI G83 29mm reload 24 inch drogue chute using 7 second motor ejection 36 inch main chute fired at 300 feet by altimeter using 1 gram of BP As seen from the video, the delay was a bit long resulting in the drogue deploying only a moment before the main. The high velocity drogue deployment tore one line from the light weight nylon drogue chute. All was recovered fine though thanks to the successful main deployment. Ultimate altitude was only 561 feet, A second flight was made using a G118 which achieved over 1250 feet. It was a much straighter and swifter boost, It was flown drogueless and recovered on the main. The rocket suffered fin damage as it landed hard on top of some vehicles parked along the flight line. Sorry, no video is available of that flight.
