Yet another Larry Brand tube fin design that I cloned from his article here on Rocket Reviews. Well, all but the soda bottle nose cone as it turns out that modern bottles are no longer properly sized to fit in a 3" body tube. I used a standard LOC 3" nose cone.
I named this rocket "Big Pink II" as the downscale version (Bottle Bat 2.6) was named "Big Pink".
DarkMatter Day at the Ranch, flight #2.
Used an Aeropack 38-29mm adapter to accommodate the Aerotech DMS load. First one I’ve used thus far and had a few questions about the delay and black powder. A friendly rocketeer offered some advice (thanks, Becky!) and all was good.
Straight vertical boost as expected from a tube fin rocket. Went a little higher than expected but no altimeter so no data on apogee.
Chute Release popped at 300’ and Fruity Chutes 30” deployed for a soft touchdown....but it was a bit of a walk up towards the outcropping. Fortunately I was able to follow the well used cow trail before heading uphill. One tired geezer by the time I returned to flight line.
