Flight Log - 2003-10-27 - Kirk Groeneveld's IRIS

This was my second model rocket, level 2, and very similar to the first. Have learned a great deal about how to do it. Went very fast. Expect to fly with an A, and 2 B engines.

Flight Date: 2003-10-27
Rocket Name: IRIS
Kit Name: Semroc - Iris {Kit} (KD-4)
Flyer's Name: Kirk Groeneveld
Motors: B6-4
Expected Altitude: 500 Feet
Wind Speed: 15.00 mph
Launch Site: Bob Evans Farm- Rio Grande, Ohio

With the loan of an igniter and using club launch rod, the IRIS flew straight and high, delayed a bit before deployment, but with favorable chute and steady wind, drifted NE to gentle touchdown within the field.  A few additional red marks from the nosecone were observed on the body, indicating some impact after deployment. Dog Barf wadding worked well and no problems observed.
