Flight Log - 2015-03-28 - Matthew Bond's Estes Guardian

A pseudo-scale looking design with split fins on the "booster" section and another set of canard like fins up front on the "payload.  Nice looking bird that has been around in the Estes lineup for quite a while now.

This rocket was one of three that I constructed in a hotel in Tucson, AZ while on a business trip and was flown at the annual 2 day Desert Heat launch put on by the Southern Arizona Rocketry Association.

Flight Date: 2015-03-28
Rocket Name: Estes Guardian
Kit Name: Estes - Guardian {Kit} (2179) [2003-2014]
Flyer's Name: Matthew Bond
Motors: C6-5
Expected Altitude: 786.00 Feet
Launch Site: Desert Heat 2015

Found myself in Tucson, AZ on a work trip and was able to build a few rockets at the hotel.  Nice field, I can"t imagine launching in the summer heat, but the winter weather was perfect.  First igniter burned without lighting the motor, but no issues on the second try.  Nice first flight, good recovery close on the field, no damage.
