Estes helicopter recovery rocket, offered as more of a competition style kit. Sized to fly on 13mm “Mini” A motors. The rotor blades require shaping, and the attach points are constructed from multiple laser cut cardboard pieces. An enjoyable build, something definitely outside the norm for Estes, and hopefully not the last such project.

Second attempt, this time with the rubber bands routed properly. Very nice straight boost, stalling out and tipping over at ejection. All blades deployed but the rocket ended up in a nose down attitude and never really started spinning as it wafted back down to the field. Batter than the first flight but still not as intended. No damage, will have to keep trying to make it work.
