First (and last) flight of the Valkyrie. I purchased this rocket second hand and it had many successful flights before I got a hold of it. I had some trouble initially with the altimeter not wanting to stay powered, but after I had replaced the arming wire everything seemed to be fine. Had a great boost, my first 54mm motor. It arced beautifully over the top and came straight back down into the lakebed. The fin can snapped off just above the forward end of the motor, and the rest of the 7 foot tall rocket was utterly destroyed. The motor case was extracted without too much effort and appears to be undamaged. In hindsight I guess I should have re-wired the entire avionics bay. Live and learn.
