As I was prepping the rocket, the wind was blowing out of the south so I slightly cocked the launch rod to account for the wind. As luck would have it, the wind shifted the moment I hit the launch button coming out of the north. The rocket sped up quickly and deployed chute perfectly. With the south-bound trajectory and the wind now coming out of the north, the rocket quickly sailed beyond a line of tall trees and was never seen again. =(
