Picking Igniters for composite motors
http://www.ApogeeRockets.com - We get a lot of questions from customers on how to pick an igniter for a composite motor. Note that an igniter does come with a motor, but occasionally fails to start the motor at the launch. So what we're talking about here is a "replacement igniter." The easy answer is to use the same igniter that came with the motor. But some motors, like those from Cesaroni, come with igniters that can't be purchased separately. What do you do then? Well... you watch this video and I'll explain what exactly you should do. The unfortunate thing is this: you probably won't like the answer, but it is the right answer. It reminds me of the experience I had at the dentist's office. He told me he had to break out the drill... I didn't like that answer at all. Hated it! But it was the 'right' answer, and I accepted his expertise. Hopefully my expertise will make your rocket flight a lot less painful than a trip to the dentist's office!
