Plaster Blaster 2009 - Level 3 and Level 2 cert flight
Bill Crabb goes for his Level 3 Certification with a 10" Polecat Thumper on an M 1315-white lightning motor. The rocket achieved a maximum altitude of 4400 feet and came down perfectly. Rocio Crabb goes for her Level 2 Certification with a 5.5" Polecat Nike Smoke on a J 315-redline motor. Unplanned separation occurred due to the shock cord not being attached properly between the different parts. However, because all sections came down undamaged, Level Two was achieved. The rocket was then flown again on a J 460-blue thunder motor. This time, the drogue was not deployed due to desert sand keeping the bottom two sections together. Luckily the Arts-2 altimeter still shot out the 8 foot parachute at 1000 feet, even though the rocket was traveling over 200mph. Although a zipper through the body tube was expected at this speed, none occurred. We'll just have to try again!
