Raspberry Pi Zero Rocket Project
This is the story of how I launched and lost my Raspberry Pi Zero based model rocket! Components used in the build: Estes Loadstar II 2 stage model rocket Raspberry Pi Zero W computer Pimoroni LiPo Zero battery adapter Adafruit 500mAh battery Ozzmaker BerryIMU Sainsmart Mini Camera for the Raspberry Pi Zero Software: Unfortunately, I did not get too fancy with the software, as I lost the rocket after the fourth flight. I had plans to use Cosmos as a ground system ( cosmosrb.com ) and make the software more automated. For these test flights I setup the Raspberry Pi Zero W as an access point, then I used SSH to start the video recording and IMU data logging. I used SFTP to transfer the videos and data from the rocket. After the last flight, the rocket was lost in the trees. We searched the woods, but could not find it, as it was probably 50+ feet up in the air. I was able to get an SFTP connection to download the last data.
