FlisKits Deuce-Bash Contest

The following article was a submission to the FlisKits, Inc Deuce-Bash Contest and is archived with permission from FlisKits. Some of these designs are not actually kitbashes, however, all come from the basic motor design feature of the FlisKits Deuce's Wild.

Brief:
Parts List:

  • 1 Deuce Engine Kit
  • 1 BT-60 Body Tube (2 1/4" long)
  • 1 7.25" Art Applewhite Saucer

I started out building the motor mount per the instructions and mounted inside the BT-60 body tube. I then built the Art Applewhite saucer per the instruction with one exception: the three center fins need to have .330 inch taken off of the root edge. When you attach the center fins, make sure they are even with the top of the body tube, this will help maintain stability. I finished with red paint and TripleThick Glaze.

(Deuce's Wild) Area 51 Deuce The saucer has flown twice. Once on two B-6s and once on two C-6s. The C motors seemed to work better. Nice slow tumble recovery and landed within 30' of the pad each time. This was a very simple bash and was done within three days.
