Revolutionary War Graves from The Crossing
On a cold, windy December day I took my son to holy ground on the banks of the Delaware River. It is there you will find casualties who were not able to make The Crossing in 1776. Whether because of sickness or cold or injury they gave their lives for a nation which was not yet formed. On this day the Delaware was bearing ice flows which, no doubt, were similar to that Christmas night in 1776 when General Washington crossed into New Jersey and surprised the Hessians in Trenton. In doing so he gave the Revolution new life and helped prevent losing most of his troops whose time was up at the new year. This is meant to be a thought provoking 5 minute reflection, a look of whatifs to ponder and a way to see a memorial to unknown soldiers we owe so much at a place which many who live here know nothing about. If they could come back just for 10 minutes to see what they fought for I believe they would be pleased. One day I would love for Mark Knopfler to give the OK to post this up with "Brothers at Arms", which is a way I watch it often. Godspeed Gentleman, we owe you everything.
