Makers Local 256 (http://256.makerslocal.org) member Dmitriy tested his model rocket he calls Safety Orange at the launch event held in Talladega, AL on Saturday January 14, 2012. Using a homemade, on board altimeter computer made from an Arduino board and air pressure sensors he was able to open the main parachute at the perfect altitude so that the rocket almost landed directly on the launch pad where it started! His landed the closest to the pad out of all the rockets that actually fully left the pad that day.
