December 22, 2017 - 5:27pm PST. When I saw this huge bright light in the dark sky, I thought we might be intercepting an ICBM from North Korea. Turns out, it's just our fellow geek King, Elon Musk, launching his Falcon 9 rocket with 10 NEXT satellites on board from Vandenberg AFB in Santa Barbara County, California about 500 miles away! Turns out I was far from alone as people all over Los Angeles, San Diego and across the entire metro Phoenix and Tucson area captured it on film and sent it to their local news stations and posted their videos on Twitter and Facebook. Apart from my initial freak out, it was coolest thing I've ever seen in the sky! Our local news team just happened to be in their helicopter over Phoenix, with the camera pointing in that direction to capture it all!
