Sukhoi 35 and other Sukhoi and Mig planes make extended use of thrust vectoring. It is not believed to be a big deal because the F 35 and the AMRAAM are considered to be technologically superior anyway. Thrust vectoring, according to the common wisdom, is not a big advantage except in very few and unlikely situations. Maybe, or maybe not, it is not true because there could exist an unexpected loophole that Russian planes might exploit, if it ever comes to open hostilities, but we obviously hope it will never happen!
