Tripoli - Charlotte Rocket Launch 10/10/1992

Way back in 1992 we were in High Power Rocketry. This video was taken from analog video tapes back in about 1999. The horrific video quality is an example of all we had to work with on old analog systems. It is low res, B&W and done totally over the air - captured on SVHS cassette decks in a van at the launch site, running on generators. We are amateur radio operators and we were experimenting with on-board live television downlinks on our over-sized rockets. The rocket flew way past what we expected it to. We were expecting 3400 to 3800 ft. and we flew all the way up to and over 4500 ft.! It was a fantastic day of rocket flights! We have a "collection" of old rockets sitting in a corner collecting dust. Some of them smaller and some of them larger than the example shown here. It was a fun hobby! Until it got to the point where it cost us over 350 bucks per flight because of the large over-sized motors we had to purchase... Videos like this sure make me appreciate the HD digital video we have today!
