*Special Thanks to Douglas Gerrard for the amazing launch footage (http://www.rocketryphotography.com/)* UVic Rocketry successfully launched and recovered its MVP-1 rocket at the 2016 Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in Green River, Utah. This was the first ever launch by a team from British Columbia, Canada. The team finished in THIRD PLACE overall in the Basic Category of the competition. Not bad for a first outing. The rocket contained a ten pound scientific payload consisting of an experiment to examine the effects of hypergravity on salamander embryo development. The team also partnered with The University of Sydney to fly their CubeSat payload.
