First ground test of ejection charge for main chute. Two 2-56 nylon screws being used as shear pins. To first evaluate the relative strength of the charge and its ability top shear the screws, the test was conducted with no recovery gear in place. The nose cone was also not tethered to the rest of the rocket. As seen in the video, the 1.25g charge was a bit more energetic than expected, projecting the nose cone into the brick wall over 50 feet away! Thankfully no signifcant damage was done to the rocket.
