8-18-2012 Citrus College Rocket Owls first flight at FAR
First flight of the scratch built rocket by the Citrus College Rocket Owl team at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry ( FAR ) launch site in the mojave Desert. Airframe was made from mailing tubes, fins were of 1/8" Luan 'door skin' lumber with fiberglass applied to both sides. The nose cone was turned from 4" x 4" redwood with assorted misc other materials. The altimeter used was a Perfect Flight 'Stratologger'. The motor was a 38mm snap ring case with sugar propellant ( sorbitol/KNO3 ), 35 / 65 % with a total impulse of approximately 550 Nsec ( I class motor).
