Originally an Estes Astron Apogee II, the Apogee Whiz was apparently damaged in a former life and rebuilt to the whims of the owner. I picked it up in an Ebay auction quite a while ago, and only recently realized that it would be an interesting bird to rebuild for flight service.

Ebay rescue bird. Originally an Estes Astron Apogee, but somewhere along the way the payload section was lost and replaces with, well, a piece of balsa art. Staging was perfect and the A8-5 took the sustainer out over US 27. Landed at home plate without the balsa art nose cone, which was lost when the screw eye stripped at ejection.
