G. & Daddy launch Model Rocket on a beautiful November day in Maine! (B6-4 / Estes Taser)

Sunny, 53 F. Winds calm. Beautiful day for a ROCKET LAUNCH! Great farm field in Lewiston Maine that makes for a perfect launch area after all the farming is done for the season... Winds were pretty much 0 today, excellent visibility, great sun angle. Rocket came down right back to us. Estes 'Taser' rocket with B6-4 engine. My observations about the current igniters vs the ones I used as kid in the late 1970's is the new ones are awful! they don't light as fast as the "good ole days" and the plastic plugs are more problematic that a simple piece of masking tape. The launch controller uses 4 AA batteries and this doesn't seem to be enough juice to light an igniter fast when its inserted into an engine. Maybe its the plastic plugs? maybe its the igniters themselves? Im not sure, but I would opt for a lantern battery for faster ignitions. You can see the delay in this video from the zero count to actual ignition. Its like this on every launch with the current "out of the box" setup.
