Georgia Tech - 2019 Spaceport America Cup
Georgia Tech competed in the 2019 Spaceport America® Cup: Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competiton, near Las Cruces New Mexico, from June 18-22, 2019. Georgia Tech flew a two-stage, student-built rocket, and won 1st place in the 30,000 ft COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) category. GEORGIA TECH WON 3 AWARDS AT THE 2019 SPACEPORT AMERICA® CUP: • 1st Place 30k COTS category • 2nd place, "Best Overall Submission" • Charles Hoult Award for Modeling & Simulation. The Charles Hoult Award for Modeling & Simulation, was to recognize excellence in math modeling and computational analysis. Four team members authored the paper, "Reliable Modeling and Experimental Validation of Staging Events For Model Rockets."
