HEADS UP!! Residential Rocket Launch!!
These high powered rockets blast upward(usually) to around 1500 ft. above the Earth's surface. The launch pad is nothing more than three cheap plastic cross members which cradle a metal rod about the size of your car's radio antenna. This rocket was launched by me at a buddies house in a densely populated residential area, in downtown Glendale, AZ. This was the rockets maiden voyage; it was also it's final voyage, for it went so high, we never regained visual. Of course the booster ejected after the first stage was compete at roughly one thousand feet, as you can see in the video. Luckily, it landed directly in the middle of the street and not on one of the 8 cars parked near-by. My point is, this rocket is dirt cheap and the only purchasing requirement is that the buyer be at least 14 years of age. On top of that, the probability of an accident taking place is higher than the rocket can soar. Twice I had to readjust the launch pad, due to the aim rod falling over. If that rocket had taken off horizontal, things would have gotten interesting... fast. The motors are very hot burning shells filled with rocket powder; they are equivalent to the size of a 12 gauge buck shot round. So, as I continue to experiment with these bad boys in heavily populated areas, I will continue video taping them, because you know, it is not a matter of if.. but when something will happen. My intent is strictly to educate; I do let people know what I am doing within a specified radius of the launch. I will be totally accountable for whatever damage may be caused and held responsible in the slim chance anyone or pet is injured.
