Flight Log - 2021-12-13 - Joe Ladwig's Fly Navy - 1
Flight Date: 2021-12-13
Rocket Name: Fly Navy - 1
Flyer's Name: Joe Ladwig
Motors: I140-10
Expected Altitude: 1,500.00 Feet
Wind Speed: 13.00 mph
Launch Site: Tab, IN
Actual Altitude: 1,233.00 Feet

Delay was drilled for 10 secs.  Full deployment charge (1.4 g) was loaded.

LP-36 drogue was employed at apogee.  LP-58 Main was to deploy at 400' AGL using JLCR.

Recovery charge fired slightly early, just approaching apogee.

Deployment charge fully extended the shock cord causing a significant rebound and collision of booster and sustainer.

Main chute deployed at 1233'.  Rocket drifted ~400 yds downwind of launch pad.

High wind and large chute combined to lift and pull rocket through the muddy field another 100 yds or so causing superficial water, mud, and stubble wear.

Damage assessment.  The high velocity rebound stripped out the drogue chute's quick link and shook loose the main from the JLCR.  The inflight impact cupped the booster's lip around 18% of its circumference.  The sustainer was struck near perpendicur to the body tube just below the shoulder of the nosecone leaving a radial "shark bite" scar.  The nosecone retention rivet hole on the opposite side of the sustainer was deformed slightly, elongated ~1/8".
